The recent celebration, held on May 27, took place at the Glover Memorial Hall in Lagos. The event welcomed children from marginalized communities and three public schools, with attendees ranging in age from 5 to 18. This diverse group of children was given a platform to interact, feel included, and enrich their abilities through the intellectually stimulating game of chess.

A central highlight of the event was a chess tournament, split into junior and senior categories. The tournament aimed to foster a spirit of friendly competition and pave the way for the Chess for Education Idea—an innovative concept aiming to marry education and recreation. In a display of their strategic prowess, the children participated in rapid chess games, lasting approximately 15–20 minutes each.

The competition was intense, and the young participants showcased impressive skills. Awards were presented to the first to third winners in the Best Female Player and Most Brilliant Players categories, fostering a sense of accomplishment among the participants. The event also highlighted the talents of the three most exceptional young mathematicians, recognized for their outstanding skills in mental math challenges.
